On Thursday, Oct. 29, 500 American flags go up on Town Hall Green at 61 N. Green St. They stay up through Veterans Day. Five weeks later, that same address hosts a parade, a tree lighting and Santa. Before the night ends, the lights come on in Arbuckle Acres Park next door, and they stay on every night until New Year's Eve.
Add up the town's own calendar listings and this block of Green Street has something going on for 41 of the 64 days between Oct. 29 and Dec. 31. The other 23 days, in late November and early December, are when the calendar moves out to Williams Park, Lincolnwood Park and the White Lick Creek Greenway. Once you see that pattern, the whole season gets easier to plan.
Fourteen Days Of Flags To Open The Season
The Brownsburg Field of Honor runs from Oct. 29 through Nov. 11, 2026. The field is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. The town's listing describes it as 500 American flags on Town Hall Green honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans.
It's free to visit. Flag dedications are $50 each.
The field is open 14 hours a day, so you don't need a special trip. It's there on the morning school run, on a lunch break and after dinner. It closes on Nov. 11, Veterans Day, so the display ends on the day it's built around.
The Quiet Stretch Is When The Parks Get Busy
After the flags come down, Green Street has nothing on the town calendar until Dec. 5. Brownsburg Parks fills that gap elsewhere, and most of it lands on one Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving.
Friday, Nov. 20, morning. Treesgiving runs from 9 a.m. to noon at Williams Park, 940 S. Locust Lane. Brownsburg Parks calls it a community planting of native trees to grow the town's urban forest, and everyone is welcome to dig in.
Friday, Nov. 20, evening. Later that day, Lincolnwood Park hosts a drive-in showing of Elf from 7 to 9 p.m. There's trivia before the movie and fresh popcorn throughout. You can watch from your car or set up in the trunk. Elf is rated PG and runs 1 hour 37 minutes, so it fits a school-night bedtime. The Park Authority's May report listed Lincolnwood's drainage repairs as complete.
Saturday, Nov. 21. At 9 a.m., the parks naturalist leads a free Morning Bird Hike on the White Lick Creek Greenway. The route stays on paved trail and boardwalk. Bring binoculars if you have them. The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County provides a limited number of loaners.
Saturday, Nov. 28. Small Business Saturday is on the town calendar as an all-day event. It doesn't have one location, so the main street is wherever you already shop.
All of that is free, outdoors and away from downtown. With a little planning, one weekend can cover a planting, a movie and a bird walk without seeing the same park twice.
Dec. 5 Packs The Block Into Four Hours
Christmas Under the Stars runs Saturday, Dec. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. in downtown Brownsburg at 61 N. Green St. It's free, with food and drinks for sale. The schedule matters more than usual this year, because the lights drive-thru opens that same night.
| Time | What's happening | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 4 to 8 p.m. | Winter Market and Santa's Workshop | Downtown, 61 N. Green St. |
| 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. | Photos with Santa, first window | 61 N. Green St. |
| 6 p.m. | Parade | Downtown |
| Evening | Tree lighting | Downtown |
| 7:15 p.m. | Christmas Lights Drive-Thru opens | Town Hall and Arbuckle Acres Park |
| 7:15 to 8 p.m. | Photos with Santa, second window | 61 N. Green St. |
The Santa photo times split around the parade. If you want the parade and a photo without standing in two lines at once, the 5:30 slot is the earlier choice. The 7:15 slot starts at the same moment the drive-thru opens.
Photos With Santa, presented by Brownsburg Kiwanis, move inside to the Town Hall Lobby on three dates:
- Saturday, Dec. 5, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
- Friday, Dec. 11, 5 to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 12, noon to 4 p.m.
If Dec. 5 feels too busy, the Dec. 12 afternoon session at the same address is the daytime option. You can pair it with that morning's 9 a.m. Morning Bird Hike at Williams Park. More details on the main event are on the Christmas Under the Stars page from Brownsburg Parks.
Twenty-Seven Nights Of Lights Next Door
The Christmas Lights Drive-Thru runs Dec. 5 through Dec. 31, 2026. The lights are on from 5 to 11 p.m. every night, and it's free.
You can see it two ways. You can drive through Arbuckle Acres Park at 200 N. Green St., where the town promises displays "ranging from gingerbread men to even a lighted Santa Claus." Or you can park at Brownsburg Town Hall and tune your radio to 88.5 for a light show synced to the music.
That's six hours a night for 27 nights, which takes some pressure off opening night. If the parade crowd is still clearing at 7:15 on Dec. 5, the same lights will be on at 5 p.m. on a Tuesday the next week. The drive-thru also ties the season together. It starts on Christmas Under the Stars night and runs to New Year's Eve, so the block stays lit for the rest of December.
It's also the first holiday season since the White Lick Creek stabilization at Arbuckle Acres wrapped up. The Park Authority's report for April 2026, dated May 21, lists that project as complete. In its spring update, the town said the work included new creek access for nature play. The park you drive through in December is the same one that got the creek work this year.
Where To Eat Before Or After
Two places that opened this summer fit well around the Green Street dates.
Current reported that Greek's Pizzeria moved into a converted century-old house at 34 W. Main St. It held a soft opening in June and a ribbon-cutting on July 27. The menu covers pizza, gyros and vegan options. It's a downtown pizza stop on a night when downtown is the destination anyway.
Tempest Artisan Coffee Bar held its grand opening on July 25, 2026, at 7249 Arbuckle Commons. It serves specialty coffee, matcha and Liège waffles, and it runs as a cocktail bar too, with live music on its opening day. That mix works for a Field of Honor walk in the morning or an evening at the lights.
The Season Closes At Noon
The last date on the town calendar is the Noon-Year's Eve Bash on Thursday, Dec. 31, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bundy Lodge, 7024 Lucas Drive. Families with kids who won't make it to midnight get a countdown in the middle of the day. Later that evening, the lights at Arbuckle Acres run until 11 p.m. on their final night.
For quick reference, here's the season by address:
- Town Hall Green and Arbuckle Acres, 61 and 200 N. Green St.: Field of Honor Oct. 29 to Nov. 11, Christmas Under the Stars Dec. 5, lobby Santa photos Dec. 5, 11 and 12, and drive-thru lights Dec. 5 to 31.
- Williams Park, 940 S. Locust Lane: Treesgiving Nov. 20 and a bird hike Dec. 12.
- Lincolnwood Park: Elf drive-in on Nov. 20.
- White Lick Creek Greenway: Bird hike on Nov. 21.
- Bundy Lodge, 7024 Lucas Drive: Noon-Year's Eve Bash on Dec. 31.
